I, Dr. Varsha Singh am an Associate Professor in Psychology, Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. I did my bachelors and masters in psychology from University of Pune, which had an emphasis on experimental psychology. I followed it with a PhD from IIT Bombay, with my thesis testing an influential hypothesis of emotion-cognition and rational decision-making. My research interests continue to remain interdisciplinary with collaborations from engineering departments in IIT, Delhi to clinical projects at AIIMS, New Delhi.
Highlights
Our Research
The group primarily uses behavioral experiments, combining these with imaging (fNIRS, structural MRI) to understand cognitive deficits in clinical conditions (neurological and psychiatric disorder). To control for environment influences or to study of cognitive deficits specific to a clinical disorder, the group collaborates with labs to use animal models (rodents). A multidisciplinary approach is needed to understand the hard problems such as the mind-body, or brain-behavior-cognition, therefore group members are selected from clinical psychology and biology, encouraged to collaborate with engineering and sciences.
